More about Sarah...

After years in management roles within business change and projects, I reached a point in my life where I wanted more from my work. I took a huge leap of faith and left a successful career in the City in the search for something more meaningful and follow a long-held ambition to secure a role in HR.

I doubled the size of my network, building new connections in my new target profession, worked hard to sell my transferable skills and established relationships with HR recruiters.

I created a whole new personal brand on LinkedIn focused on where I wanted to be, finally securing a fantastic Employee Engagement role, an area close to my heart. However, it was a maternity cover role and in 2020, I found myself back on the market in the midst of the pandemic.

Having qualified as a licensed CCS career counsellor during my career transition, I set up a jobseeker support group with another career coach and started to offer a mix of pro bono and paid career coaching alongside the search for my next role.

However, I found myself constantly being pulled more towards the coaching. Realising my heart was no longer in my own job search, and encouraged by fellow coaches and former clients, I decided to turn my side passion into something bigger.

I now work full-time providing support to job-seekers and career changers, plus coaching and mentoring for project professionals.

The job search feels more frustrating than ever, with conflicting advice, constant ghosting and a lack of feedback and the best way to be successful is to be clear on what you are looking for and be proactive in your approach.

With personal experience of redundancy and a complete career change, I understand the challenge of trying to maintain resilience in the face of knock-backs and how to stand out in the job-market.  I also have extensive experience on the other side of the fence as a hiring manager, having reviewed thousands of CVs and run hundreds of interviews!

I work with clients on their job-search strategy, supporting them with developing a great CV and LinkedIn presence and helping to increase their confidence and success at interviews. There is nothing better than seeing a client secure their next role!

Having led a large community of Business Analysts across a global financial services firm and built a number of other BA communities from the ground up, I am also a huge advocate for bringing people together to link in with others for support, and to share ideas and best practice. The power of the jobseeker community right now is immense and I’m really looking forward to working with the ECJ community to give you the best member experience.

When I’m not working, I will mainly be found knee-deep in books and journals as I complete my CIPD Level 7 Diploma in Human Resource Management.
